We bred Duke to only two mares the first year (2002). We wanted to see if/how his behavior would change after breeding. We could not tell any difference. Last year (2003) we bred him to about 10 mares, his behavior has not changed at all. This horse is so loving and kind. If breeding him would have changed his personality, our plans were to geld him. He is so easy to handle we will continue to use him as a breeding stud. We have his first foal, a filly, with the same loving disposition as her sire. She is a red dun out of a sorrel mare. Duke will have 8 - 10 foals this year (2004) and we should be able to tell more about his ability to be a color producer. We feel like he will produce a lot of color because of his dark genetics but, more importantly, he is throwing his conformation and disposition. Duke is a great grandson of Peppy San and the Hall of Fame horse, Montana Doc. He is foundation breeding at it's best. 903-856-6279
