Leather Types Basic & Deluxe Leather - we separate our leather into two categories, the difference is mainly cost & color choice. The quality of both types of leather is in the same range, with the exception that the "deluxe" leather is softer than the average "basic" leather. Basic Leather - is currently leather that we buy in larger bulk at a lower price level. The leather that is currently available in the market is what we have to choose from and the colors & textures are almost never the same. This limits our choices but provides the customer with a good quality but lower priced leather. This is why "Basic Chaps" are available in what we call "Earthtone" colors. When buying chaps that are made of this leather the customer has only a choice of the leather that is currently in stock and will not have standard colors to choose from. Deluxe Leather - is leather that we offer in some standard ranges of color and is a little more expensive and is usually a more pliable and softer leather than the average "basic leather". It is generally available in rust, chocolate, black & white. The shades of color will vary from batch to batch, so the leather may not be the exact color shown in our pictures. If we offer "rust", the customer should expect some difference in shades of color. If a customer is wanting a very specific shade of a color, they should contact us to see if it is available however, it is usually nearly impossible to match an exact color. Even leather that is tanned by the same process by the same tannery will vary in shade from batch to batch. Some of our leather such as the "Buckskin" color is only available if it is specially tanned for us. This leather is considered "Deluxe Leather" but is more expensive because it is custom tanned for our use.

Basic Chaps Basic Chaps - We seperate our price list into two main categories called "Basic Chaps" and "Deluxe Chaps". Basic chaps are fully functional chaps that leave out the fancy options. They are our base model to which other options can be added at additional cost. They come with the following standard specifications: Leather - chap body is typically 5-6 oz. top grain "basic leather". Top yoke - 5-6 oz. top grain chap leather. Side yoke - two slotted stamped steel conchos w/ strings rather than a side yoke. Basic shotgun chaps and other zipper leg chaps will have no conchos on the side leg. Front Belt - adjustable 5/8" latigo leather front straps w/ #121 buckle. Back Belt - adjustable 1.5" doubled & stitched chap leather laced on in V-braid style. Leg Straps - "only applicable to buckle leg chaps" 5-6 oz. chap leather straps, 2 per leg with roller buckles. Fringe - 6" standard fringe on chinks, 8" standard fringe on "basic" chow chaps & "basic" rodeo chaps, Fringe is not standard on other chap styles. Thread - white nylon, black is available upon request. Zippers - applies only to zipper leg chaps, 3/4" heavy duty brass zipper. Deluxe Chaps Deluxe Chaps - Come with extra features, those chaps that have buckle fastening legs come with 3 buckles & latigo leg straps, plus a side yoke. All come with a re-inforcing 3/4" strip sewn to the upper thigh, and a rolled & stitched backbelt that is laced on in a V-braid style. All deluxe chaps will have a chrome plated cart buckle on the front belt. They come with the following standard specifications: Leather - chap body is typically 5-6 oz. top grain "deluxe leather". Top yoke - 5-6 oz. top grain chap leather. Side yoke - 5-6 oz. top grain chap leather. Front Belt - adjustable 5/8" latigo leather front straps w/ deluxe chrome cart buckle. Back Belt - adjustable rolled & stitched chap leather laced on in V-braid style. Leg Straps - "only applicable to buckle leg chaps" 6-7 oz. latigo leather straps with roller buckles, 3 straps per leg. Fringe - 6" standard fringe on chinks, 8" standard fringe on rodeo chaps, Fringe is not standard on other chap styles. Thread - white nylon, black is available upon request.
